The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board has appointed Jennifer Varnam as its new Superintendent of Education.
The Board announced Varnam will officially begin the role on July 6, bringing more than 20 years of experience in Catholic education to the position.
Varnam joins the board from the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, where she currently serves as principal of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Secondary School. She has spent more than a decade working in school leadership roles and is known for focusing on student success, well-being, and faith-based learning.
Board Chair Carol Luciani said trustees are excited to welcome Varnam to the system.
Luciani described her as a respected Catholic educator whose leadership experience and commitment to student achievement will make a positive impact across schools and communities in Brantford, Brant County, Haldimand County, and Norfolk County.
Varnam is also currently pursuing a PhD through the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
In a statement, Varnam said she is honoured to join the board and looks forward to working with students, families, staff, parish partners, and trustees to support welcoming and inclusive learning communities.
She replaces Phil Wilson, who was recently appointed principal at St. Michael’s College School in Toronto.
The Board said it looks forward to the leadership and experience Varnam will bring as she steps into the role this summer.
