A strike has officially begun at the Norfolk Association for Community Living, impacting several programs and services across Norfolk County.
In a statement released Monday, Executive Director Stella Barker said the organization’s priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals supported through NACL services. Barker said the organization is continuing efforts to maintain support through its LifeStyle services during the labour disruption.
As part of the strike impacts, Community Participation, Job Links, and Passport services have been paused until further notice. NACL also said only minimal services will be available through its Supported Independent Living program during the strike.
The organization thanked employees who completed their final shifts before the strike began, recognizing their professionalism, compassion, and dedication during the transition period.
NACL also extended appreciation to families, community partners, and support teams for their patience and understanding as the organization works through the labour dispute.
The organization says it remains committed to reaching a resolution while continuing to provide quality care and support to the individuals and families who rely on its services.
