The Lynnwood Arts Centre will host the opening celebration for “Voices of Mother Earth” on May 21, bringing together artists, performers, and community members for an evening focused on Indigenous creativity and culture.
The exhibition, titled The Indigenous Artist Project: Voices of Mother Earth, is presented by the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board and showcases the work of regional Indigenous artists through a range of artistic styles and storytelling traditions.
Featured artists include Eric Martin, Savannah Skye-Smith, Michael Barber, Lindsay Martin, and Kelsey Powless. Organizers say the exhibition explores themes tied to identity, tradition, language, storytelling, and connection to the land.
The public opening reception is scheduled for May 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lynnwood Arts Centre in Simcoe. Throughout the evening, visitors will be able to view the exhibition, meet participating artists, and enjoy cultural performances including Indigenous song and dance.
Food and refreshments will also be available as part of the community celebration.
Organizers say the event is intended to create a welcoming space for people to gather, connect, and celebrate Indigenous artistic expression while learning more about the cultural knowledge and lived experiences reflected in the artwork.
Additional information about the exhibition and participating artists is available through the Lynnwood Arts Centre exhibition page.
