Board game fans in Norfolk County now have another place to gather, learn new games, and meet fellow players.
The Norfolk County Public Library recently expanded its popular Board Game Nite program from Simcoe to the Waterford branch, with sessions now taking place on the first Wednesday of each month.
Craig Kitchen is the Library Assistant who is deeply connected to these events, as you’ll see him almost every Thursday at the Simcoe Branch.
The library’s gaming nights first began in Simcoe more than a decade ago and have built a dedicated following.
Kitchen says expanding was a natural next step after seeing growing interest from residents.
Kitchen says Waterford was chosen in part because of strong attendance patterns at the branch.
The Waterford nights are currently being held once a month as the library gauges interest and participation, though organizers hope the program could eventually expand further.
Kitchen also emphasized that newcomers should not feel intimidated about attending, even if they have never played modern board games before.
He says the door is always open for people willing to simply give it a try and it is a warm welcome.
Board Game Nite at the Waterford branch takes place on the first Wednesday of each month and is open to anyone interested in joining.
