Norfolk County is advising residents of a temporary closure affecting a section of the Lynn Valley Rail Trail later this week.
County officials say the closure will impact the portion of the trail between Decou Road and Ireland Road on Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
The temporary shutdown is required to allow crews to complete geotechnical investigation work, including the drilling of boreholes. Officials say the work is being carried out to help engineers assess soil and underground conditions in support of future infrastructure planning and improvements.
During the closure, trail users will not be able to access the affected section of the trail. Norfolk County is asking residents to avoid the area and use alternate routes while work is underway to ensure public safety.
County staff say borehole drilling involves creating small, narrow holes in the ground to evaluate stability and underground conditions. The information gathered during the investigation will help guide future engineering and infrastructure decisions.
Norfolk County thanked residents for their patience and cooperation while the work is completed.
