Families are being invited to celebrate local youth talent as Flair Fest returns for another summer kickoff event.
Hosted by Art With Heart Studio, the festival features youth talent shows, a maker’s market, games, crafts and family activities designed to spotlight artistic youth from across Haldimand and Norfolk.
Programming Director Jessica Rayner-Bieri describes the event as “a family-centered kickoff to the summer” focused on celebrating creativity and hard work from local children and teens.
She says the maker’s market will feature between 10 and 20 youth vendors selling handmade items.
The event also includes three talent show divisions ranging from kindergarten students to Grade 12 performers. Rayner-Bieri says unique performances are encouraged.
The event has been running for 5 years and Rayner-Bieri has been there since the beginning. She says its been rewarding seeing kids return each year.
Auditions took place last weekend on May 2, however organizers say late entries are still welcome and encouraged through their social media channels or website.
Top prizes for the talent shows include two $500 bursaries, one presented in the name of Art with Heart and the other in memory of Marine Dodd. Past winners have used the bursaries to purchase new instruments or invest in additional lessons and training, something organizers say has been rewarding to see as participants continue developing their talents.
The 5th Annual Art With Heart Studio Flair Fest is set for Sunday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Powell Park, bringing a full day of live performances, art, and community celebration.
