A long-running Norfolk County fundraiser is returning this week with a mission to help purchase critical equipment for Norfolk General Hospital.
The Heart of Healthcare Radiothon, presented by TTCA, will broadcast live Thursday from Riverside 83 in support of the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.
Hosted by 98.9 myFM and Oldies 99.7, the annual event has raised funds for local healthcare needs for more than two decades.
General Manager Alan Duthie says the radiothon continues to play an important role in supporting equipment purchases that are not covered by government funding.
Beyond fundraising, Duthie says the radiothon has become known for bringing together voices from across the community, including healthcare workers, patients, hospital staff, and local leaders.
Listeners will hear stories from people whose lives have been impacted by Norfolk General Hospital, highlighting the broad role the facility plays in the community.
He says maintaining strong local healthcare services remains critical for Norfolk County residents.
Residents will have several ways to contribute during Thursday’s event.
Duthie also credited local businesses and sponsors for helping make the event possible year after year.
This year’s presenting sponsor is Toyotetsu Canada, with additional support from a number of local businesses and organizations contributing to the radiothon effort.
The Heart of Healthcare Radiothon takes place Thursday live from Riverside 83, with proceeds supporting the purchase of the new echocardiogram machine for Norfolk General Hospital.
