Mental Health Week will be recognized in Norfolk County with a community flag raising event Monday afternoon in Simcoe.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at noon outside the Norfolk County Administration Building on Colborne Street South. The event is being hosted by CMHA Brant Haldimand Norfolk alongside South Coast Wellness Addiction and Mental Health.
Organizers say the event is intended to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma, and encourage residents to learn more about the supports and resources available within the community. Mental Health Week events are held across the country each year to promote conversations around mental wellness and access to care.
Following the flag raising, attendees are invited to gather at Riversyde 83 on Sydenham Street, where drinks, light refreshments, and information about local mental health resources will be available. Community organizations and support services are also expected to take part.
Organizers say events like the flag raising provide an opportunity to connect residents with local supports while reminding people they are not alone when facing mental health challenges.
