Two local musicians are getting a big moment in the spotlight, as Langton’s Olivia Mae Graham and Port Dover’s Nolan Gibson celebrate major nominations at the Ontario Country Music Awards (CMAO).
Graham is up for several awards this year, including Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. Gibson, who performed on her record, is nominated for Musician of the Year—marking a big milestone for both artists on the provincial stage.
Graham said, “it was a whirlwind” recalling the moment she found out while refreshing social media for updates.
She says the recognition means even more considering how personal the project has been.
For Gibson, this is his first time being involved with the CMAOs, and he says the honour hasn’t sunk in yet.
Both artists say the journey from writing and recording to now being recognized, has been a rewarding one, and a reminder of how far local talent can go.
Olivia and Nolan will also take the stage together during the awards, backed by the Western Swing Authority. The awards show is set for May 31 in Port Credit, where the pair will represent Norfolk County on a big stage.
While in studio, they also treated us to a short performance of Olivia’s single, *I’m Not Sorry*.
