The Haldimand Norfolk Concert Band is fully embracing the spring season.
This past Friday marked the launch of their concert series Spring Has Sprung, with the next performance set for May in Selkirk.
We spoke with band member Patricia Misner, who shared what audiences can look forward to throughout the series.
The band is made up of volunteers from across Haldimand and Norfolk, with members ranging in age from high school students to musicians in their 80s. Every performer is there because they love making music, and they dedicate significant time and effort to each concert.
Misner says both of the band’s major concert series hold a special place in her heart—the long‑standing tradition of Christmas performances, and the fresh, “what’s new” feeling that comes with spring.
As a musician, she enjoys playing familiar favourites, but also loves the excitement of learning brand‑new pieces for each show.
