A milestone year for Simcoe Little Theatre will be celebrated this June with a unique fundraising production bringing together generations of performers.
Titled “Where Stars Still Shine”, the show is being staged in honour of the theatre’s 80th anniversary and will highlight the people and performances that have shaped its legacy since 1946.
Directed by Jan Rainey and assistant directed by David Kent, the original production will feature a series of medleys and scenes drawn from plays and musicals that have appeared on the Simcoe Little Theatre stage over the decades.
Organizers say the performance will blend music, humour, and nostalgia, offering audiences a look back at some of the company’s most memorable moments.
The cast itself reflects the theatre’s long history, bringing together alumni performers alongside newer members of the SLT community.
Rainey describes the production as a “homecoming,” adding that it celebrates the individuals who have helped keep community theatre alive in Simcoe for generations.
Only three performances are scheduled for the limited-run event, taking place June 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m., and June 28 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are priced at $45, with proceeds supporting improvements to both audience and backstage areas, as well as future productions.
Organizers say the anniversary show is not only a celebration of the past, but an investment in the future of local theatre.
They note that community theatre continues to play an important role in fostering creativity, connection, and shared experiences, and this production aims to ensure that tradition continues for years to come.
Tickets went on sale April 15 through the Simcoe Little Theatre website and box office.
