Residents across Norfolk County are being encouraged to grow their own gardens this season with the return of a popular community initiative.
The Norfolk County Public Library has once again stocked its seed libraries at all branch locations, offering free seeds to the public.
The program allows visitors to pick up a variety of seeds to plant at home, helping to promote sustainability, food security, and hands-on learning.
Library officials say the initiative is designed to be accessible to gardeners of all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned growers.
The seed libraries are supported through partnerships with several organizations and local contributors, including Meadow Lynn Market Garden and CSA, Waterford Wolves, Minor Bros Country Living, and the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library.
These partnerships help ensure a diverse selection of seeds is available to the community.
Library staff say the program continues to grow in popularity each year, as more residents look for ways to connect with nature and produce their own food.
They add that the initiative also fosters a sense of community by encouraging people to share knowledge and experiences around gardening.
