A new event in Norfolk County is aiming to bring farmers and agricultural support services together under one roof.
Norfolk County Agricultural Connect is being launched to help farmers better understand the wide range of services available to support their operations. Organizer Shawn McGowan says the idea came from years of working in human resources within the agriculture sector.
He says many farmers simply aren’t aware of what resources exist locally.
The free event is set for April 23 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Aud in Simcoe.
It is geared toward farmers of all sizes, as well as those interested in agriculture. However, organizers stress it is not a job fair, but rather an opportunity to learn about business supports, health services, and industry innovation.
McGowan says modern farming has become increasingly complex, requiring knowledge of regulations, staffing, and technology.
The event will also feature discussion panels with experts and industry leaders from Norfolk County and across Ontario.
With Norfolk County being one of Ontario’s largest agricultural regions, McGowan says there is a clear need for better connection and communication within the sector.
If you’re on the fence, he says that’s a perfect reason to come out…
The event is free to attend, with registration available online.
