Norfolk County Mayor Amy Martin is stepping away from her official duties temporarily following the birth of her first child. The municipality confirmed the mayor has begun a leave of absence after welcoming a baby boy with her husband last week.
According to the county, the newborn weighed eight pounds, eleven ounces at birth, and both mother and child are doing well. The leave will allow Mayor Martin time to focus on her family during what officials describe as an important and special period.
Despite the mayor’s absence, Norfolk County says municipal operations will continue without disruption. Deputy Mayors Adam Veri and Kim Huffman will assume responsibilities on a rotating basis, ensuring governance and administrative duties remain consistent.
County officials extended their congratulations to Mayor Martin and her family, wishing them health and happiness as they begin this new chapter.
