A 47-year-old driver from Dunnville is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in Haldimand County Ontario.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police, an officer with the Haldimand detachment observed a vehicle travelling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed on Haldimand Road 20 around midday on March 12.
After conducting a traffic stop, officers determined the vehicle had more occupants than available seatbelts, with one individual reportedly concealed in the rear of the vehicle.
As a result, the driver has been charged with stunt driving and speeding under the Highway Traffic Act. Police say the driver’s licence has been suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Police are reminding motorists that speeding remains one of the leading causes of serious collisions, injuries, and fatalities on Ontario roads, and are urging drivers to follow posted limits and ensure all passengers are properly seated and restrained.
