The Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre in Simcoe will temporarily close this summer as the facility undergoes a series of planned repairs and maintenance projects.
Norfolk County officials say the work is part of routine upkeep designed to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of the community pool, which hosts swimming programs, fitness classes, lessons and recreational swims throughout the year.
Spring programming at the aquatic centre will wrap up on Friday, May 29.
Shortly afterward, the facility will shut down so crews can begin work on several key infrastructure upgrades.
Among the projects planned are repairs to the pool’s water inlets, replacement of the pool deck surface, regrouting of tile within the pool tank and significant maintenance to the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
The current timeline calls for the pool to reopen in early September, ahead of the fall recreation season.
However, officials caution that timelines for construction and infrastructure work can change depending on project conditions or unforeseen issues uncovered during repairs.
Norfolk County says updates will be shared with residents as the work progresses and more details about the reopening schedule become available.
While the Simcoe facility is closed, the county says residents will still have options for swimming during the summer months.
The Delhi Kinsmen Pool is scheduled to open for the season on Monday, June 1.
The outdoor pool in Delhi will remain open throughout the summer.
