The Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate two separate theft incidents in Port Dover and Simcoe.
Officers first responded Monday, February 23 at approximately 8:55 a.m. to a report of a theft on Angler Avenue in Port Dover. Police say that sometime overnight, one or more unidentified individuals entered a vehicle parked on the property and stole miscellaneous tools along with a wallet containing bank cards.
Investigators determined that the stolen bank cards were later used at a business on Highway 6 in Jarvis, located in Haldimand County. Police say an unidentified Caucasian male wearing a black toque, dark-coloured reflective overalls, and black footwear used the cards. The suspect was seen arriving and leaving the area in a light grey 2008–2010 GMC Sierra pickup truck.
In a separate incident, officers responded Thursday, February 19 at approximately 3:09 p.m. to a report of a vehicle theft on Donly Drive North in Simcoe. Police say that around 2:45 p.m., two unidentified individuals arrived in a black early-2000s GMC pickup truck. One suspect was observed wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
Investigators allege the suspects gained entry to a red 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche bearing Ontario licence plate 4208FE before fleeing the area in both vehicles. They were last seen travelling eastbound on Queensway East.
Photographs of the suspect vehicle and a similar stolen vehicle have been released as part of the investigation. Police say both incidents remain under investigation and are urging anyone with information to contact Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
