The Norfolk Musical Arts Festival has cancelled its 40th Anniversary Kickoff Concert this weekend, due to circumstances beyond its control.
In a statement, the Board of Directors said that while the opening concert will no longer take place, the milestone year remains a meaningful celebration of artistic excellence in the community. Organizers say they are still looking forward to a week of joyful performances.
The annual festival runs March 2 to 6, 2026, at various venues in Simcoe and features competitions in music, speech arts and drama involving students and community performers.
Several key performances will continue as planned. The Senior Cup Competitions will be held Thursday, March 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. James United Church, 150 Colborne Street South.
The Festival Highlights and Awards Ceremony will take place Tuesday, March 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Emmanuel Bible Church, 24 Churchill Circle.
Admission to both events is by donation, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
