The 2025 Special Olympics Ontario Summer Games generated $3 million in economic activity across Ontario, including $2.48 million in Brantford alone.
According to Sport Tourism Canada’s STEAMPRO report, the four-day event in July welcomed more than 1,000 athletes to Brantford, Brant County, and Six Nations of the Grand River. From July 10 to 13, competitors took part in athletics, bocce, golf, soccer, and softball.
Opening and closing ceremonies celebrated sport, culture, and inclusion. Organizers also praised the collaboration between Brantford Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, and Six Nations Police Service for helping keep the Games safe and accessible.
Survey results showed 88.4 per cent of attendees said venues were always easily accessible, while 83.9 per cent said they felt welcomed, safe, and valued.
Cody Jansma, CEO of Special Olympics Ontario, said the report highlights both the economic impact and the power of strong community partnerships that help build inclusive communities across the province.
