Two motorists are facing impaired driving charges following separate traffic stops in Simcoe over the weekend, according to the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police.
The first incident occurred early Saturday morning, February 14, at approximately 1:19 a.m., when officers conducted a traffic stop on James Street.
Police say the driver failed a roadside sobriety test and was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, the 55-year-old man from Norfolk County was charged with operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.
Later that same day, at around 10:48 p.m., an officer on patrol observed another vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Queensway East in Simcoe.
Police conducted a traffic stop and again administered a roadside sobriety test, which led to the driver being arrested without incident.
In that case, a 35-year-old man from Thames Centre was charged with operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.
