A youth is facing multiple charges following a reported assault at a residence in Walsingham.
Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police say officers were called to a home on South Street around 7:03 p.m. on Friday, after receiving a report that an individual had been assaulted.
Police say their investigation determined that an interaction took place between two individuals inside the residence, during which one person allegedly threatened and assaulted the other, and caused damage to property within the home. Investigators also learned the victim had been assaulted previously by the same individual.
The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old Norfolk County resident was arrested and charged with several offences, including assault, assault causing bodily harm by choking or strangulation, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, mischief for destroying or damaging property, and failing to comply with a sentence.
The accused’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and cannot be released. Police say the youth remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.
