Lighthouse Festival Theatre has announced the appointment of David Leyshon as Interim Artistic Producer for the 2026 season.
Leyshon is a respected theatre artist, director, and educator with decades of experience in live performance and storytelling. Festival officials say his background aligns well with Lighthouse Festival’s focus on accessible, laughter-filled Canadian theatre.
He joins the organization at a time when the festival is planning a season centered on joy, connection, and humour. As Interim Artistic Producer, Leyshon will work closely with the artistic team to support creative planning and leadership for productions in Port Dover and Port Colborne. He has also been named director of the 2026 community production, strengthening his connection to the festival and its audiences.
Leyshon says he is excited to be part of a theatre known for creating memorable and entertaining experiences, adding that shared laughter is especially important during challenging times.
Executive Director Nicole Campbell says Leyshon brings both practical experience and a thoughtful, collaborative approach to the role, making him a strong addition for the 2026 season.
During this interim period, the Board of Directors will begin a search for a permanent Artistic Director to ensure long-term artistic leadership for the festival.
