Two people in Oxford Country have been rescued from opioid overdoses thanks to the availability of naloxone.
OPP Constable Matthew Foster tells us patrol officers are at the ready when there’s an overdose reported.
Foster says officers in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg administered to the drug to quickly reverse the effects of the overdose.
Foster says while police don’t encourage the use of non-regulated narcotics, a buddy system can help if you choose to use.
Foster say don’t let the fear of possible legal consequences keep you from reacting to a drug overdose situation – that’s what the Good Samaritan Act is for.
Foster says anyone who suffers serious illness after consuming a narcotic should call 911, attend a local emergency room, or attend a walk-in clinic immediately.
