Police are reminding residents across Norfolk County to remain vigilant and secure their property as investigations continue into recent thefts and a break-and-enter incident in Simcoe and Delhi.
On Saturday, January 3, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a reported vehicle theft on Head Street North in Simcoe. Officers determined that one or more unidentified individuals unlawfully entered a vehicle on the property and stole a quantity of Canadian currency. Police have not said whether the vehicle was locked at the time of the incident.
Less than 24 hours later, on Sunday, January 4, at around 4:58 p.m., OPP were called to a break-and-enter on Dalton Road in Delhi. Investigators say suspects entered a barn on the property and attempted to steal a motorcycle. The attempt was unsuccessful, and no additional items were reported stolen.
Police say these incidents are part of a broader trend of thieves targeting both locked and unlocked vehicles and properties throughout the county. Residents are urged to remove all valuables from vehicles, ensure doors are locked, and report any suspicious behaviour in their neighbourhoods.
Anyone with information related to either incident is asked to contact Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online, where tips may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000. Both investigations remain ongoing.
