Norfolk County is issuing a firm reminder that curbside recycling collection for non-eligible properties will end on January 1, 2026, with no extensions planned. The change is required under Ontario’s producer-led Blue Box program, and the deadline is now less than two weeks away.
As of the new year, curbside recycling will stop for business improvement areas, commercial and small businesses, churches and places of worship, charitable and not-for-profit organizations, daycares, industrial and institutional properties, municipal buildings, commercial farms without a residence, and campgrounds or trailer parks without permanent or seasonal households.
The county says affected property owners have been notified multiple times, including a November 3, 2025 media release, mailed letters, website updates, and social media notices.
Non-eligible property owners must arrange private recycling collection services before January 1. Norfolk County cannot recommend or endorse specific providers.
Curbside garbage collection will continue. A cart-based garbage system and green bins for organics are scheduled to launch in September 2026.
