The Haldimand County OPP is investigating after a package was stolen from the front porch of a home on Orkney Street in Caledonia.
Police say the homeowner reported that a delivery had been made earlier in the day, but the parcel was gone by the time they returned home.
Officers say this type of theft becomes increasingly common during the holiday season as more residents rely on online shopping and frequent parcel deliveries.
The OPP is reminding the public to take extra precautions, including arranging deliveries to a work address or asking a neighbour to retrieve packages when possible.
Investigators continue to look into the theft and are asking anyone with information, security footage, or suspicious activity to contact the Haldimand OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
Those who wish to remain anonymous can submit a tip online at www.helpsolvecrime.com or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, where they may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
Police say community assistance continues to play a key role in solving property-related crimes, especially in neighbourhoods where porch piracy occurs in a matter of seconds.
As holiday-related deliveries increase, officers are encouraging residents to stay vigilant and secure their parcels whenever possible.
