Shelley Spence, FCPA, FCA, LPA Auditor General
Haldimand–Norfolk MPP Bobbi Ann Brady says Ontario’s 2025 Auditor General Report raises serious concerns about how government money is being spent. The wide-ranging report flagged major issues in primary care, OHIP billing and Supply Ontario’s handling of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Brady pointed to troubling examples, including more than 100 doctors billing for working every single day of the year and some submitting claims for treating over 500 patients in one day. She noted CTV News also found specialists who billed millions without triggering an audit, highlighting what Auditor General Shelley Spence called the health ministry’s limited ability to flag high-risk claims.
PPE management was also criticized, with Ontario writing off more than one billion pieces of equipment since 2021 due to poor inventory controls. Brady says these misdirected dollars could instead support health care, long-term care expansions like Edgewater Gardens in Dunnville, and greater use of nurse practitioners to ease doctor shortages.
Brady says the report leaves her frustrated about missed opportunities to improve life for Ontarians.
