A call for assistance escalated over the weekend when a police officer was allegedly assaulted during an intimate partner violence investigation in Norfolk County.
The incident occurred on Sunday, when Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a reported dispute between two individuals just before 4:50 p.m.
According to the Norfolk County OPP, officers arrived at the address and began speaking with one of the individuals involved when the situation suddenly turned violent.
During the interaction, a police officer was physically assaulted, though the OPP confirms no injuries were reported.
A 35-year-old Mississauga resident was arrested at the scene.
The individual is now facing several charges, including Obstruct Peace Officer, Assault a Peace Officer, and Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.
