A shelter-in-place advisory issued early Monday morning in Ohsweken has been lifted after police resolved an active incident involving an armed individual near Fourth Line and Chiefswood Road.
The warning, first issued around 4:00 a.m., prompted a major emergency response by the Middlesex OPP and Six Nations Police Service and caused significant concern among residents.
Authorities initially instructed residents in the area to take immediate safety precautions as officers responded to reports of an armed suspect.
Police directed anyone outdoors to seek immediate shelter, while those inside were asked to lock all doors and windows, close curtains, and avoid approaching or engaging with anyone matching the suspect description.
Shortly after, Six Nations Police Service announced that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted and confirmed that there was no longer any threat to public safety.
While officials did not release further details, they noted that officers may remain in the area as part of the ongoing investigation.
No additional information will be released at this time.
