The first major fundraiser for Haldimand & Norfolk Women’s Services (HNWS) since 2019 was a sold-out success.
Held October 23 at Cranberry Creek Gardens, the Farm-to-Table Dinner drew 112 guests from across both counties to celebrate HNWS’s ongoing impact and community programs. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal from Devlin’s Country Bistro, live music by Amber Banks, and inspiring talks from Board Chair Kim Schott, Reverend Ted Smith of Roots of Empathy, and Girls Power Camp alumna Crystine Clark.
The evening also introduced HNWS’s new Executive Director, Amber Wardell, who succeeds longtime leader Jane Scheel. With nearly two decades of experience in the violence against women sector, Wardell shared her vision for continuing HNWS’s legacy of compassion and empowerment.
The event raised more than $6,500 to support programs including Roots of Empathy and Girls Power Camp. Wardell thanked the community, sponsors, and volunteers, noting that “your support truly makes a difference.”
HNWS’s next event takes place December 8, marking the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
