Two Norfolk County men are facing multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police officers discovered a firearm, crossbow, and cannabis products during a late-night traffic stop in Simcoe.
The incident happened around 11:10 p.m. on Monday, after police responded to reports of a suspicious person possibly entering vehicles near Norris Street and Lee Avenue.
While investigating, an officer’s Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted to a nearby vehicle, prompting a stop.
During an interaction with the occupants, the officer spotted a firearm and crossbow inside the vehicle, leading to both men being arrested.
A subsequent search uncovered additional cannabis and related products.
A 32-year-old man faces several charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession for the purpose of distributing, and failure to comply with a probation order.
Another 32-year-old man faces firearm and cannabis-related offences, along with charges for driving without a licence and operating a vehicle without valid permits.
