The Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks has announced plans to create a new provincial board-governed agency called the Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency.
The agency will provide leadership, governance, and strategic direction to Conservation Authorities across the province.
To establish the agency, the province will introduce amendments to the Conservation Authorities Act and consult on proposed boundaries for regional consolidation.
This consultation will include a 45-day public notice period on the Environmental Registry of Ontario, inviting feedback from municipalities, Conservation Authorities, Indigenous communities, and residents.
The Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA) says operations will continue as normal, with no immediate changes expected.
LPRCA will maintain its ongoing programs that focus on water quality, public safety, and watershed health to protect people, property, and the environment.
