The Ontario government has announced a $10 million investment to modernize and expand fisheries management facilities in Wheatley and Port Dover, strengthening the province’s fishing industry and local economy.
The Port Dover upgrades will replace aging infrastructure, expand facility space, and introduce new technologies designed to boost efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Construction is expected to begin within the next two years, with the upgraded Port Dover site set to open by 2027.
Provincial officials say the investment will create local jobs, support the Lake Erie fishery, and help ensure Ontario’s fisheries remain competitive and resilient for generations to come.
