Generosity and community spirit took center stage at the Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice Donor Appreciation Night in Port Dover, where the Williamson family announced an additional $1 million donation to help build the new Hospice Palliative Care Centre.
Executive Director Andrea Binkle said the family’s impact has shaped every part of the hospice journey — from donating 10 acres of land near Jarvis, to offering the current home base, and now providing a transformative financial gift.
“Their generosity is more than a donation; it’s a legacy of care that will serve generations to come,” Binkle said.
The family’s commitment began with Norma and Drew Williamson, whose kindness and compassion inspired their children — Alan, Debbie, Eric, and Rusty — to continue their legacy. In honour of their contributions, the new hospice residence will bear the Williamson Family name.
This year alone, the hospice has seen tremendous local support through events like Blooms for a Cause, Hike for Hospice, and the Live Like Luke campaign, which has raised nearly $400,000 for compassionate end-of-life care in Norfolk and Haldimand.
