Haldimand–Norfolk MPP Bobbi Ann Brady is once again urging the Ford government to cover the cost of Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) testing under OHIP.
Currently, Ontario is one of the few provinces that does not offer free PSA tests, which cost about $42.50. Brady says the fee discourages men from getting tested early — something that can save lives.
“For over two years, MPP Wayne Gates and I have been calling on the government to cover this life-saving test,” Brady said in the Legislature.
She highlighted the story of Dr. Anthony Dixon, a cancer survivor who could afford early testing, unlike one of his patients who later developed advanced prostate cancer.
Brady emphasized that prostate cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer death among Canadian men and said, “This is not a political issue — it’s about saving lives.”
