A 23-year-old Oxford County man is facing several charges after a serious impaired driving crash near Courtland early Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to Highway 19, near the Norfolk–Oxford County border, around 1:01 a.m. on October 17, where a sedan had veered off the roadway and into a field.
The driver was treated for minor injuries, while his passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital by Ornge air ambulance.
He now faces multiple charges, including operation while impaired (80 plus), operation causing bodily harm, and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.
Police are reminding drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drugs when behind the wheel, and urge anyone who suspects impaired driving to call 9-1-1 immediately.
