The Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show opened its gates this week with the much-loved Young Canada Day, bringing energy, colour, and competition to the grandstands.
Hundreds of local high school students braved the rain and mud to cheer, chant, and battle for school pride. The stands shook with applause as teams took to the track, faces painted and dressed head-to-toe in school colours. The event has long been a highlight for the county, uniting youth and community in a spirited celebration.
This year, Delhi District High School stood out, earning multiple top titles including Boys Tug-o-War, Overall Tug-o-War, Special Effects, and the coveted Grand Champions trophy. Simcoe Composite also impressed, winning the Girls Tug-o-War and Road Race. Waterford District claimed Cheerleading honours, while Valley Heights walked away with the Junior Homecraft Award.
The results proved one thing—rain or shine, Norfolk’s youth bring unmatched pride and energy to the fairgrounds.
