Week 3 of high school football across Norfolk packed in the drama, community spirit, and some good ol’ fashioned smash-mouth gridiron action.
The highlight matchup saw the Delhi Raiders march into Brantford for the Every Child Matters Game against the Pauline Johnson Thunderbirds. Kiwanis Field was lined with orange armbands, Six Nations voices lifted the crowd, and a halftime performance had fans dancing along. In a defensive battle, the Raiders grounded the Thunderbirds 19-3.
Over in Waterford, the Cayuga Warriors were in for a grind. Like a pack on the hunt, the Waterford Wolves rolled to a 29-14 win. That’s two in a row for the Wolves, who are starting to gather steam like a freight train no one wants to tackle.
In Simcoe, it was another tough day for the Sabres. The McKinnon Park Blue Devils took control, cruising to a 33-0 lead before the game was cut short in the third quarter after a Sabres player suffered an injury. All thoughts are with the young athlete in hopes of a speedy recovery.
And in a thriller, the Valley Heights Bears clawed past the Holy Trinity Titans 29-26, notching their second victory in front of a fired-up home crowd.
