The first-ever Simcoe Heritage Friendship Festival Car Show cruised into town with a roaring success, drawing an estimated 230 classic and custom vehicles to Lynwood Park—more than double the turnout of past Corvette-only shows. Organizers Vinnie Szceszny, Paul Catherwood, and Charlene Davidson weren’t sure what to expect for their first show.
Catherwood added that many clubs showed up, traveling from as far as Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, London, and Hamilton.
The committee opened the show to all makes and models, introduced 17 award categories, and handed out high-end dash plaques, door prizes, and trophies. Best in Show sponsored by Expert Auto, went to a stunning 1959 Cadillac Convertible owned by Waterford’s Maro Vanrooy.
Organizers explained that the Terry Reese Memorial Award will be an ongoing award every year moving forward. Kids also had their say, picking a 1968 Chevy Camaro RS as their favourite.
Classic cars and classic music goes hand in hand. Klassy FM Professional DJ Services kept the show rocking adding to the nostalgia of the day.
Organizers estimate the event raised more than $5,500 for local causes.
Davidson went on to say profits from their gate went back to the Heritage Festival itself.
Despite being a first-year effort, feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Lessons for next year include adding more washrooms, food vendors, and a dedicated photographer to capture the prize winners. With strong support and promises from attendees to return with friends, the committee is already planning to expand for 2026, aiming to fit even more vehicles while keeping the relaxed, community-driven atmosphere that made this debut such a hit.
