Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a third case of “swatting” in Haldimand County this week, raising new concerns about public safety and wasted emergency resources.
On September 4, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers responded to a reported family dispute at a residence on Haldimand Road 53 near Jarvis. When police arrived, they confirmed there was no emergency and no threat to public safety.
This is the third false emergency call since September 2, when officers were dispatched to a bomb threat on the same road, followed by a school lockdown the next day. Investigators believe all three calls are connected and may have been made from outside Canada using Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology.
The Haldimand County Major Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation. Police warn that these fraudulent calls can put lives at risk by pulling resources away from real emergencies.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Haldimand OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
