The end of summer is near, and the start of school is around the corner.
With that, the Norfolk OPP is putting out a reminder to motoring public that their morning and afternoon commute may look a bit different.
Constable Andrew Gamble says that may mean you will see buses pulled to the side of the road or crossing guards with orange vests.
Both have one goal in mind
Gamble understands the people are in a hurry, especially in the morning if they are running late for work or dropping off the kids, but rules are in place to keep everyone safe.
You don’t want to put children, or the crossing guards looking out for their safety, at risk just to clock in on time.
That safety message goes for school buses as well.
If a school bus is pulled over to the side of the road with its stop sign out, even if you don’t see any children around, you must stop.
Gamble says the OPP want to see a safe and successful school year, and asking for drivers cooperation to make that happen.
