Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Bobbi Ann Brady is urging residents to stay alert and protect themselves from scams like phishing, identity theft, and tax fraud. In a recent statement, she shared concerns about locals being tricked into unnecessary home repairs and financial scams disguised as government programs. Brady recommends reading the Little Black Book of Scams, a free online guide from the Competition Bureau of Canada. It explains how to recognize common scams, including romance schemes and fake CRA calls.
Brady says these scams target people of all ages through phone, email, and even letters. She encourages anyone uncertain about a suspicious message or offer to reach out to her office. “We all have weak moments,” she said, “and scammers know it.” Staying informed and cautious is the best defence.
The Little Black Book of Scams can be found online and is a helpful tool in preventing fraud. Don’t be the next phishing story.
