The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) has approved its 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, aiming to address key watershed challenges over the next five years. The plan focuses on four strategic pillars and introduces a new one centred on organizational sustainability.
GRCA Chair John Challinor II says the plan reflects the region’s growth, climate change, and increased pressure on natural systems. “It aligns with our legislative mandate and strengthens collaboration with municipalities, First Nations, and residents,” he said.
The plan was developed with input from the GRCA Board, leadership team, Indigenous partners (Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation), and other stakeholders.
The plan outlines continued leadership in flood management, enhanced asset care, and deeper engagement with Indigenous communities. It also focuses on innovation, service delivery, and internal capacity.
Approved May 23, 2025, the plan will be updated as needed, with annual progress reports to the board and community. Full details are on the GRCA website.
