Canadian country music star Gord Bamford is coming to Norfolk County for a special performance at the Norfolk Pro Rodeo on Saturday, July 19. The Alberta-raised, Australian-born artist is no stranger to the rodeo circuit or the country lifestyle, and he’s excited to be returning to Ontario.
With over 25 years in the music industry, Bamford has earned 26 Canadian Country Music Awards and multiple JUNO nominations. His hits like “Dive Bar,” “Drinkin’ Buddy,” and “Canadian Dirt” have made him a household name, blending storytelling, country grit, and Canadian pride.
“Canadian Dirt” is one of Bamford’s fan favourites, a song inspired by highways, tractors, cowboys, and small-town life.
He added that he raised his family here and they are proud to be Canadian.
Bamford told us he’s excited about the Norfolk Pro Rodeo. He grew up in a rodeo family and with his grandpa riding Bronc and his family all being farmers.
He recently paid tribute to The Tragically Hip with a cover of “Wheat Kings”. Bamford said “it was scary covering a Hip song,” because of the bands iconic legacy.
Like Downie of the Hip, Bamford’s charity work is impressive. Through the Gord Bamford Foundation, he’s raised nearly $6 million for youth charities across Canada.
Bamford’s stop in Norfolk is part of his “Just Getting Started” tour—an ironic name for someone with such a long and successful career.
Norfolk fans can expect a high-energy night full of classic country hits, heartfelt lyrics, and a deep love for all things Canadian.
