The Grand Erie District School Board is making history this fall with the launch of the first artificial intelligence micro‑credential in Ontario’s public education sector.
Developed in partnership with Conestoga College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, this new 10‑hour online, asynchronous program aims to give Grand Erie staff the knowledge and tools needed to navigate an AI‑enhanced future.
The micro‑credential covers AI basics, available tools and platforms, responsible AI use, ethics, and role‑specific learning pathways for academic staff, administrators, and support staff.
All Grand Erie staff who complete the micro‑credential will receive a joint certificate from the Board and Conestoga College.
The initiative was shaped by Grand Erie staff and aligned with the Board’s multi‑year strategic plan and annual learning objectives, making it a unique opportunity for staff across disciplines.
The launch is set for this September and marks a significant milestone for Grand Erie staff and students alike.
