Norfolk County remains under an official Heat Warning.
The warning is in effect until tonight (Tuesday), with some relief on the way.
Grand Erie Public Health is urging residents and visitors to take precautions, especially those most vulnerable to heat‑related illnesses.
Young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, those who work or exercise outdoors, and low‑income households without air conditioning are at heightened risk.
Symptoms of heat‑stress can range from mild discomfort to serious medical emergencies, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Watch for the early signs of heat‑stress — such as headache, dizziness, confusion, and intense fatigue — and seek medical attention immediately if you notice these in yourself or others.
To help residents stay safe, Norfolk County has identified cooling spaces across the area.
Public libraries in Simcoe, Delhi, Port Dover, Port Rowan, and Waterford are open for residents seeking air‑conditioned spaces.
The Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre in Simcoe and the Delhi Kinsmen Pool are available for swimming during regular hours, and splash pads in Simcoe and Delhi have extended their operating times from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the duration of the warning.
The Waterford Tricenturena is also available as a cooling space.
For more information about available cooling spaces, swimming pool schedules, or splash pad hours, visit the Norfolk County website or call the county offices.
Stay safe, stay hydrated, and help protect one another during this period of extreme heat.
