Visitors heading to Norfolk County’s popular lakeside destinations this summer should prepare for the return of paid parking, which takes effect Sunday, June 15 and runs daily through Labour Day, Tuesday, September 2.
The 11-week seasonal paid parking program will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily in designated areas across Port Dover, Turkey Point, and Long Point.
Designated Paid Parking Locations:
-
Port Dover: Clinton Street Parking Lot. The Lift Bridge Parking Lot and Harbour Street spaces near the museum may also become available, depending on ongoing road work in that area.
-
Turkey Point: Cedar Drive, from Turkey Point Road to Old Hill Road, along the main beach.
-
Long Point: Erie Boulevard and the Abigail Becker Parking Lot.
Parking Rates and Payment Options
Parking costs $4 per hour. Visitors can pay using the HotSpot app on their smartphones by scanning the QR codes posted in each parking area. A data connection is required to use the app. Alternatively, payment can be made at designated terminals using Visa, Mastercard, or Debit Tap (note: swipe debit cards and cash are not accepted).
Resident Parking Permits
Norfolk County residents or property owners can purchase a Resident Permit for $35 per vehicle, which includes four hours of paid parking per day. These permits provide a convenient and affordable option for locals spending time at the beach this summer.
Accessible Parking Rules
Vehicles displaying a valid Ontario Ministry of Transportation Accessible Parking Permit can park for free in marked Accessible spaces within any paid parking zone. However, these permits do not allow for free parking in non-Accessible spaces, and violations will be subject to enforcement.
Fines for Non-Compliance
Anyone parking without proper payment in designated zones may face a $75 fine. Norfolk County reminds all beachgoers to follow parking rules to avoid penalties and keep traffic flowing smoothly in busy tourist areas.
