This past Friday, the hallways at our local high schools were scarce as students left class and hit the beach.
The first Friday of June is known as Beach Day in Norfolk County, where students leave the classroom and soak up the sun.
This is an unofficial event not supported by either of the local school boards.
For Mya, from Holy Trinity, it was a matter of weighing a normal day of class vs a memory that could last a lifetime.
Iyla from Simcoe Composite School looked at the day as a matter of being something proudly Norfolk, and it should be celebrated.
For others like Lily, from SCS, tradition played a big role.
Allegra, from HT, spoke about tradition as well and how you talk to many adults in Norfolk who have found memories of their “Beach Days” as well.
Police were out at local beaches ensuring everything went by smoothly as well.
