Labour Minister Patty Hajdu is calling on Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) to return to the bargaining table to negotiate terms for binding arbitration.
The two sides remain divided on key issues after 18 months of impasse.
While binding arbitration is not the preferred route, Hajdu emphasized the urgency of resolving the dispute, stating that Canadians expect a resolution.
Canada Post has expressed readiness to negotiate a new collective agreement, while the union has proposed binding arbitration.
Federal mediators are available to assist in the negotiations.
