A colourful new feature now welcomes young visitors at the Port Dover Branch of the Norfolk County Public Library, thanks to the Friends of the Library Port Dover Branch Chapter.
The children’s area has been updated with a vibrant magnetic board and 50 interactive shapes that spark creativity and support motor skill development through hands-on, open-ended play. This engaging installation is the first step in plans for a permanent sensory board designed to promote inclusive, sensory-based learning for kids of all abilities.
The Friends group also funded a mobile LEGO board, offering another fun and creative outlet for children and teens alike.
An independent group of dedicated volunteers, the Friends of the Library raise funds through annual events like a spring tea, plant sale, and document shredding day. Their efforts directly enhance the library experience for the entire community.
Library CEO Julie Kent praised their generosity, saying it’s helping create “an even more inclusive and engaging space for all children.”
The library extends heartfelt thanks to the Friends for their lasting contributions to learning and play in Port Dover.
